Our Day at Fort Edmonton Park

Hello there!

Yesterday was opening weekend at Fort Edmonton Park, so we decided to go and have a visit! This isn't my first visit and it defiantly will not be my last! Fort Edmonton Park is literally my favourite place to go for a sunny day. I'm super into history and if given the chance to go back in time, i'd go back somewhere in between 1840 and 1940. That 100 years in my opinion, has some of the best history and the way people lived was just so interesting!

Anyways, Fort Edmonton Park is a history themed park which takes you back into 4 different eras! It shows you what Edmonton was like in 1846, 1885, 1905 and 1920. The park has this spilt up into 1846 Fort and 1885, 1905, 1920 Streets. Each has its own history, and literally sends you back to that time period when you step into that area of the park. It's so magical! There's also other areas of the park such as Blatchford Field Air Hanger, Midway and so many more! Also, all the buildings in this park are either replica reconstructions of the original buildings or are the actual buildings that have been moved onto the site. Everything in this park is from the Edmonton area!

So today, I thought i'd share with you my favourite areas of the park and the photos I took yesterday while at the park! I didn't capture everything, because there is honestly so much to see and i'd be there  for 10 hours trying to take a picture of everything! Hopefully I captured just how amazing the park is!  If you live in the Edmonton area, or want somewhere new to visit on a trip i'd recommend this to anyone! There's something for everyone at this park!

Honestly this park is massive, they've done such an amazing job creating this park. I can't imagine the amount of work that goes into this, the people who work here are the most lovely and friendly people ever. The make you feel right at home, and they do such a good job of conveying the time era they are set in. The costumed workers, are so interactive and they teach you so much! Each time I go back, I learn something different! Fort Edmonton Park is such amazing and huge part of the Edmonton area, it is such a staple place for anybody who lives in the area. If you are ever in the area and want something to do, I recommend Fort Edmonton Park as your first choice!

Starting a new job?

Hello again!

Tomorrow I will be starting a new job, and we all know have nerve-racking that can be! I'll be working in this job to save some money before I go to school in a few months. I'm feeling slightly nervous, so I thought I'd share some tips I use to try and stay calm. Also, to give myself a confidence boost! Before starting a brand new job!

1. Your new and everyone knows it!
I know this sounds harsh, but it's the truth and it's not a bad thing! Use this to your advantage, you and everyone else knows that you don't exactly know what your doing for the first few weeks. It's going to take some time to learn everything and to know exactly what to do in your new job. It's okay to make mistakes! Your coworkers will be forgiving, and will be able to show the way if you should need help.

2. Be friendly and make conversation!
This is so important, even if you have to step out of your comfort zone. By giving a smile and saying "Hello, I'm _____! How are you?" your breaking down a wall that leaves you more open to people. Coworkers get nervous too when someone new starts, nobody knows what the new person will be like. If your friendly and open, you'll be putting your coworkers at ease and making the first day for you slightly easier.

3.Be yourself!
I know everyone says that and it sounds so cliché, but it is the best thing you can do. You want your new coworkers to get to know you, not a fake version of you. The longer you work there, the more comfortable you will become. Real pieces of you will be exposed, like your favourite tv show or the fact the you hate cheese! It will be easier if you have this mind set from the very start.

4. Ignore the negativity!
There is always going to be someone who gives off negative vibes, and a lot of the time it has nothing to do with you. Even if it may seem like it, just avoid these people as much as you can. When you do have to interact with these people, squash it with kindness! Honestly, sometimes people just need a hug or some kind words. Also, if people are being intently rude to you nothing will drive them crazy more then you not reacting and being kind back. They won't be getting the reaction they want, so eventually they will give up. If the negativity doesn't stop, talk to something who can deal with it in the workplace.

5.Make an extra effort and pay it forward!
This is such a great tip for the work place, I had a friend tell me about this and it really does make a difference! If that means buying coffee that day or bringing a treat or grabbing your coworkers plate on the way to the sink! People will remember it and be grateful, even if sometimes they may not seem like it! Your being a good person by doing those things, and that's a good thing to be! :)

Well, I hope these tips help! Give them a try in your current job too!

Top 5 Lip Balms

Hello!

Another beauty related post today!

Lip Balms are honestly such an important step in skin care, many people don't really think about it as Skin Care. But it is, we only get the skin we're given once and I personally want to look after it. Also, who wants gross chapped dry lips? (YUCK)

Applying lip balm before applying any other lip products is also a important step, it helps in allowing them to apply smoother and easier. It also allows the lip product to last longer and feel more comfortable on the lips. If Im not wearing any lipstick or lipstick that day, i'll apply lip balm at least once every couple hours and after I eat or drink.

So I though I'd share my top 5 lip balms today!

1. Nivea Essential Lip Balm
This is honestly the best lip balm I have ever come across so far! So moisturizing and long-lasting, like I'm talking at least 3 hours before I have to reapply. This is also the lip balm that I use before I apply any other lip products. Just so you know, it's super cheap and it's from the drugstore!

2. Lypsyl Original Lip Balm

3. Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm

4. The Body Shop 100% Natural Lip Roll On in Rose
This one is slightly different, super moisturizing but it sinks into your lips and after a few mins it doesn't even look or feel like you'd applied anything to your lips. But it leaves your lips feeling super moisturized and plump!

5. Blistex Ultra Protection SPF 30 Lip Balm
Not as moisturizing as the others, still is but I use this more for when I know I'lll be outside a lot. I only wear lip balm when I know i'll be spending a lot of time outside that day. What's the point of wearing tons of lipgloss or lipstick? Also, remember that your lips can become sun burnt too!

Have an amazing day and give someone a smile!

Why It's Important To Vote

Hello!

I'd like to just take a moment to explain to you why I think its important to vote!

Yesterday, in Alberta it was election day. It was time to choose a new political party and premier to run this beautiful province. Right now there is a lot that needs to change, we're having issues in many areas. Such as Education and the Work Force, and it is going to take a lot to make changes and we need a strong individual to take on that task.

Now, everyone is going to have a different opinion on which party is best fit to achieve all that. There is going to be many arguments around this. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that is why we have the freedom to be able to vote. This way we can come to a decision in the most fair and equal way possible. Everyone can voice their opinion and that way we can see which party has the most supporters.

People have fought for us to have this opportunity to vote and I for one want to be able to exercise my right. I voted for NDP Party, and the NDP Party won this election. They won because me and many others put forward their opinion to make a change.

Even though this election is over, next time you have a opportunity to vote for anything DO IT!
Take pride in having this right to voice your opinion!

Thank you

Blog Layout

Hello!

Just wanted to say that I changed the name of my blog and did some tinkering of the layout, I found that the name was too long and I found my background was a bit boring!

Does it look better this way?

I think so, but who knows a week from now I might dislike it...
